Four years ago, a simple flyer from a local artist landed in my mailbox—and planted a seed. I realized that he, like many others, could benefit from compelling visual storytelling to promote his work.
That spark led me to enrol in a 12-month mentorship program to explore storytelling more deeply.
In 2022 and 2023, I teamed up with a Brisbane writer to shape these stories through words. Together, we launched the first and second editions of BACKYARD·ART·STORIES magazine.
What began as a creative idea quickly evolved into a journey of discovery—into the lives of artists, their practices, and their needs. Along the way, I’ve learned invaluable lessons about community-building, connection, and support.
But most importantly, I’ve come to understand how my own art and practice can be a powerful force for helping others—and that, for me, is the heart of this project.
